Is Tan Son Nhat Fast Track Dearer? Nine Sellers Compared

Nine sellers' published Saigon arrival prices against their Hanoi prices, read 23 October 2026: who charges the same, who adds a surcharge, who is cheaper.

Saigon is dearer at the top of the range, not in the middle

Nine companies publish arrival prices for both Tan Son Nhat (SGN) and Hanoi (HAN), though one leaves its Saigon entry price out. Three charge identically at both airports on every line recorded. Five charge more in Saigon on at least one line. One goes both ways. Among the eight that list an entry price for both airports, the middle entry price is 35 US dollars in each city; the difference comes from two sellers, one adding 10 and one adding 20.

All amounts are per traveller, for one or two travellers by day, from each company’s own public page read on 23 October 2026. One page was last updated on 3 May 2026 and one has no date. A company running the same list under two web addresses counts once. The nine are numbered by Saigon entry price, lowest first, so that no company is named.

What changes between the two airports

No. Saigon compared with Hanoi
1 No difference on any line.
2 Saigon lists four levels to Hanoi’s two. The cheapest is 26 in both; the two levels with the same names as Hanoi’s cost 12 and 8 more, and the extra one tops out at 195.
3 No difference.
4 No difference. Luggage help and the express lane are both 20 at both airports.
5 Same on three levels, 10 more on Premium (50 becomes 60).
6 Same list, plus a Saigon surcharge of 10 on arrival.
7 The immigration-only lane is the same by day and 3 more by night; the combined lane is 5 more by day and 8 more by night; the full version is 6 less.
8 59 instead of 39 at entry and 159 instead of 79 above it; for five to ten travellers 55 instead of 35 and 150 instead of 70.
9 Entry price not listed for Saigon; the upper level is 65 instead of 45.

Sellers 4 and 5 quote prices without tax (11.6% and 8% VAT respectively). Seller 4 says it charges in dong although it lists dollars. None of the pages says why Saigon differs.

What the entry level adds up to

This is the author’s arithmetic, not a figure from any seller. For the eight with a Saigon entry price, subtract Hanoi from Saigon: 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, +10, 0, +20. The sum is 30, or 3.75 a seller, and sellers 6 and 8 produce all of it. Sorted, Saigon runs 22, 26, 30, 35, 35, 39, 45, 59 and Hanoi 22, 26, 30, 35, 35, 35, 39, 39. A shopper who sorts only by cheapest published price sees 22 at both.

The gaps widen above entry. Seller 8 adds 80 at its upper level, seller 9 adds 20 and seller 5 adds 10 on Premium; seller 2’s two shared levels add 12 and 8. Level names belong to each seller, and nothing recorded lets a “VIP” at one be set against a “premium” at another, so each comparison holds inside one company only.

What the pages leave out

  • The reason for any Saigon difference.
  • Whether seller 6’s surcharge reaches every level.
  • Seller 9’s Saigon entry price.
  • Whether the tax-free prices at sellers 4 and 5 are the final charge.
  • Minutes saved at either airport.

Inference: a company with one national price, such as 1, 3 or 4, adds nothing for Saigon, while for 2, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 the Hanoi figure cannot stand in for Saigon. Ask for the Saigon total in writing for your landing time. The Tan Son Nhat fast track page describes the service, and is fast track worth it covers when to pay for it.
